I really wanted to give this book 3 stars but the and I thought about it the less I liked it I liked the concept of this book but found its execution poor and it left me with some uestionsI thought too much time was spent in the past and not enough in the present I also thought that the past was then rushed to get to the present I get that it gave us an opportunity to get to know the characters but I didn't need to know so many little details about their everyday life soon after they got marriedI also found the gratuitous Christianity as another reviewer called it a turn off I'm Christian but if I'm reading a romance novel I don't want to hear about being saved by Christ unless I know that this is going to be a Christian romance novel I just found it off puttingand then I realized that was why the sex scenes were so truncated and lacking emotionmaybe the author didn't want to be too graphic and still be religious? Also I have several uestions that never seemed to be answeredJaynee mentioned while thinking to herself that there were two secrets she would take to the gravewell I guess she did 'cause the reader never found out what they were and it didn't sound like in their 10 years of marriage she told Jordan eitherAlong the same lines Jaynee told Jordan that she was going to give him the edited version of her family traumaswell what was the unedited version? I thought her background was definitely harsh but I didn't think it was THAT harsh that she would be so messed up afterward Maybe it wasn't conveyed well enoughLastly Jaynee tells Brian at the coffee shop that he wasn't her firstbut she told Jordan that she had only been with one other man Was she lying? To whom? Why?Too bad really because I did like both characters and I did think the twist about who shot her was interesting It just wasn't done well enough in my opinion

This was a good book and different from the type of suspense I am used to reading I really liked the way Carmen DeSousa used the present day and how they met moments for the story to come together At first I was getting a little impatient at the how they met moments but I realized it was only because I wanted to know what was happening to Jaynee in the present day since she was in the hospital I thought Jordan was a little much at first and he was driving me nuts with how much he cared about Jaynee and spoiled her haven't met anyone that overwhelming before but he then started to grow on me and he became normal to me I instantly liked Jaynee from the beginning Carmen keeps the plot moving along well and has you constantly wondering who you can trust I wasn't completely shocked at the end when I found out who did it but was actually thinking it was someone else instead I thought the characters and relationships seemed real and it was just a good overall story Highly recommend this book and can't wait to read Carmen's next book

She belongs to meI knew about a uarter of the way through the this book that it would be a waste of time However I committed myself to reading it in its entirety I did not like the characters They were too unbelievable because Jordan was too controlling and Jayne was too weak The amount of time spend recounting their super short courtship and uick marriage was just ridiculous Both time frames were short so the recap should have been short but NO it was the focus for almost half of the book It was almost as if to make up for them falling in love so uickly the author drug the process out over way too many chapter so the readers wouldn't think about it Overall it just was not realistic The courtship the resolution None of it was believable for me I know it's fiction but come on

She Belongs to Me Southern Suspense # 1 by Carmen DeSousa is a 2011 5 Prince Publishing release Jaynee and Jordon meet and embark on a whirlwind romance resulting in a uickie marriage in Vegas But after several years of marriage the couple is still childless and Jordon is becoming impatient He and Jaynee have an arguement about it and then Jordon finds Jaynee shot in the head after an apparent suicide attempt As he waits in the hospital alone he thinks back on how they met and how uickly they fell in love He recalls the things Jaynee told him about her past but there are many things about Jaynee he has never known Before Jaynee met Jordon she had a relationship with a very controlling man named Brian For years Brian has kept tabs on Jaynee He is furious that she has married someone else Brian believes She belongs to me Could Jaynee's past finally have caught up with her? This is a good mystery suspense novel with a love story as it's foundation Jordon is a good guy and we can't fault him for being human The couple did manage to stick together despite the incredibly short time they knew each other before they married So the real issue isn't between Jaynee and Jordon even though they did argue that day The problem is they have no idea so many people were opposed to the marriage and they all seem to have their own motives Control jealousy and greed all top the list of reasons some people would rather the two hadn't met and gotten married Because they married so uickly the offended parties were blindsided and it was too late to undo the damage This set up builds suspence because the reader is aware of the problem but the characters are not I did enjoy reading the backstory of how Jordon and Jaynee met but a little dab will do ya as they say Once we got the idea I think we could have fast forwarded over much of the time between the honeymoon and the five years of marriage that had past before Jaynee is shot So in my opinion the story could have been slimmed down a little and this would have helped the flow and would have given the book a faster pace Otherwise this is an enjoyable romantic suspense novel that will have you guessing up until the very end I give this one a B C or 35 stars

She Belongs To Me by author Carmen DeSousa is a terrific romantic suspense book The story started off with bang literally and then the love story of Jordan and Jaynee is told as past and present are blended together Readers get to see glimpses of other characters and how they are connected to Jordan and Jaynee and what possible involvement they might have had in Jaynee's shooting The author did a great job developing all the characters in this story and created a story filled with love intrigue and suspense that had me riveted until the surprising reveal at the end I am so glad I discovered this book and look forward to reading books by this wonderful author

After reading great reviews for Carmen DeSousa's work I decided to give her debut novel a shot I was not disappointedThe story launches with the prologue so don't skip it readers Jordan Monroe is startled out of sleep by a gunshot He finds his wife Jaynee sprawled on the floor with a bullet in her head The story then rewinds back five years to the night the couple had first met For Jordan it was a love at first sight He knew the moment he laid eyes on Jaynee that she was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Of course he didn't know about her incarcerated ex boyfriend who had decided that Jaynee belonged to himThe story flips back and forth between Jordan and Jaynee's whirlwind romance and the mystery of who shot Jaynee and why Although I enjoyed the development of their relationship my favorite parts of the story were the mystery Just when I thought I'd had it figured out DeSousa would throw in a twist I have a hunch if I reread the book I'd be palming my forehead over all the clues I'd missedAlong with the mystery and suspense I also appreciated the character development and lack of explicit content Jordan and Jaynee are noble but flawed For example Jaynee has an abusive past that she doesn't allow to rule her life although the reader does see where her past affects her perceptions and decisions Jordan can be domineering but I like the fact he recognizes this about himself acknowledges it and tries to keep himself in check Regarding intimacy there's sizzle but DeSousa leaves most of it to the reader's imagination Very refreshing I must sayI'd love to share a bit about my favorite character but I'm afraid that would be too much of a spoiler The end has a great example of the type of person I hope and strive to be But sharing specifically what that trait is would be a spoiler as well Guess you'll just have to read the story

Sighs I really couldn’t finish this book at Chapter 14 One of the many things I loathe about flashbacks after the plot has been introduced is that the flashbacks can seem to drag out and bore me That’s exactly what happened with this one The prologue opens up about something horrific that happened with Jaynee and suddenly Chapter 1 starts off how they met Throughout the chapters I was introduced to other narratives that constantly threw me off I really wanted to get down to the nitty gritty from the prologue but was being dragged by how hopeless of a Romantic Jordan was It was getting too corny for me and I was becoming impatient and uninterested This book had the potential of pulling me in but it lacked in so many areas If you’re a reader like me you can’t get hit with a bomb in the beginning and then slap me with unrelated events afterwards The newlywed tale of Jordan and CJ should’ve lasted for about three chapters at the most then got back to the matter at hand I got a feeling that I would’ve been on a major cliffhanger by the end of this book and would’ve been mad as hell So I saved myself that disappointment
